Can Brides Wear Bright Lipstick

Making the most out of your lips on the big day is important, afterall they're pretty important when it comes to sealing the deal...

First up, if you’re not used to wearing a bold, bright lip your wedding day probably isn’t the right occasion for road testing it. However, if you usually wear some colour on your lips, changing it up for the big day can be a super glam and gorgeous option and really change the vibe of your look. Here are my tips on whether to pick a colour pop for your lips or not…

  • Bright lips work best with wedding dresses that aren't overly complicated. If there’s too much going on with beading, shimmers and sparkles or poufy you could end up looking tacky.

  • The simpler style and whiter the dress the more bold lips and the colour will pop. If it’s an off-white, cream or ivory then a yellow tone of lipstick is way more flattering, for example, coral is a great option.

  • Classic bright red lips look spot on with vintage lace dresses as they stay true to its retro and antiquey vibe.

  • For modern, festival or beach type dresses, corals and hot pinks work really well.If you’re set on bright, bold lips then dramatic eyes are probably not the way to go.

It’s best to stick with a natural and pretty look for the rest of your face. I’d suggest neutral shadows and a couple of individual lashes to give your eyes definition.

I hope this helps with your preparation, I’d love you to share, in the comments below, your thoughts on whether you're tempted to try a daring shade with your wedding dress?
